All

2023 was a pivotal year for X-Lab as we transition to global provider

2023 was a pivotal year for X-Lab as we transition from being the UK’s leading Lab-2-Lab service toward our vision: To be the leader in connecting the world’s diagnostic systems to improve healthcare for all.

Global expansion into APAC & steady growth in US

We extended the breadth of our offering by launching our third Labgnostic Azure Cloud instance in Australia, which will serve the Asia-Pacific region and work alongside the existing North American and European instances. We also secured and on boarded our first Australian customers in less than eight weeks!!  We doubled our customer base in North America, developed key customers in Ireland. And we also have a number of interesting conversations in South America, mainland Europe and New Zealand that should make 2024 our most exciting year yet.

Portfolio expansion with launch of two new products

To increase the depth of our offering, we have expanded our product set by launching two new products this year:

LabReach – Order Comms for remote requesters
  • LabReach, an Order Communications Solution, allows requesters to refer tests into Labgnostic hospitals through an intuitive, internet-connected portal and without needing their own LIMS/LIS or HSCN connection. LabReach users still enjoy the benefits of Labgnostic like specimen tracking and the ability to refer tests to many hospitals from a single system. LabReach adds OCS-specific functionality like standalone phlebotomy workflow, multi-specimen ordering, clinician workgroups and integration with PDS to quickly and accurately populate demographic data.
LabgnosticEQA for automation of External Quality Assurance & Proficiency Testing
  • LabgnosticEQA (LabgnosticPT in the USA), uses the core functionality of Labgnostic to automate the External Quality Assurance (EQA) and Proficiency Testing (PT) processes within a lab, eradicating common complaints such as laborious manual processing and transcription errors. This new product builds on our existing EQA connectivity in the UK with a significantly improved interface that allows labs to subscribe to published schemes, vastly reducing the onboarding time, and improving the overall return on investment for both providers and labs.
LabReach customer feedback very positive

Initial customer feedback on LabReach has been very exciting and we already have customers mandating that all paper ordering across their region will be replaced by electronic ordering via LabReach by the end of FY23. We had intended LabReach to be limited to the UK and Ireland initially, although we’ve had a lot of interest from Australian customers, so it’s very likely that we will officially launch LabReach in Australia within 2024.

LabgnosticEQA provider citing system is 10x faster

Our prospecting for LabgnosticEQA was initially focussed on providers, and again, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with at least one provider citing that the new system is up to 10x faster, and immeasurably easier for them to publish schemes on. Another provider committed to buying based on the mock-ups alone before the service was even built! We secured our first major PT provider client in the USA, and are negotiating terms with major providers in Australia, North America, South America and mainland Europe. Together, these would open LabgnosticEQA to more than 150,000 labs globally by the end of 2024.

Organisational reset hosts visionary ideas

It’s also been an exciting year for our staff, we reset the organisation to reflect the needs of our growing international client base and to recognise the progression and capability of our people. Sadly, we’ve had to say goodbye to a few, and wished them the best as they move on to new ventures, but we’ve also welcomed new people with fresh ideas and infectious passion to the business. We’ve also celebrated promotions, graduations, house moves, births and engagements along the way.

Looking forward to 2024

Looking forward to 2024, there’s a lot to be excited about. We’ll be at most of the major conferences in Europe, America and Australia, talking about the success of the roll-out across these regions, and presenting the case studies that we’re collecting along the way. I’ll be speaking at the Australian Digital Health Festival in Melbourne in May, after a week of travelling around Australia and New Zealand meeting with our new customers. It’s hard to plan much further than that at the moment!

A big thank you to all our customers & staff

Thank you to all of our customers for your ongoing support and loyalty.  And a big thank you to the wonderful team at X-Lab, you’re a pleasure to work with, and I’m delighted to be able to share this exciting journey with you.
